Digiwise at Leadership School Armenia: Systems Thinking in Practice

Author: Elo Gaver

In early October, Lauri Antalainen, Founder of Digiwise and President of EstBAN, encouraged future leaders in Armenia to think systematically — both in work and in life.

Based in Armenia, Leadership School is a politically and religiously independent foundation dedicated to developing the next generation of leaders. Great importance is placed on involving both local and internationally recognized experts in shaping future changemakers.

In his presentation, Lauri Antalainen spoke about systems thinking — a way of viewing an organization as a whole, comprising interconnected parts. It was another great opportunity to combine his work at Digiwise and EstBAN, sharing insights from his experience in investment and business consulting.

He emphasized the importance of systems thinking and shared valuable lessons from both personal experience and client feedback — showing how a structured approach helps create consistency, reduce risks, and increase efficiency.

According to Lauri, the benefits of consistency and clear processes are multifaceted:

  • work is done the same way every time, reducing complexity and errors;
  • results become more predictable and stable;
  • activities can be scaled and replicated more easily;
  • time waste is reduced, and efficiency increases;
  • quality control becomes simpler and more transparent;
  • new employees learn faster, and accountability is clearer.

He also reminded the audience that “doing small things takes just as much time as doing big things” — meaning it’s worth focusing on the steps that have the greatest impact on the whole system.

By participating in Leadership School, Digiwise contributes to the global dialogue on digitalization, leadership, and innovation — building bridges between Estonia’s business ecosystem and the next generation of future leaders.
